Known as the “Fête de la Musique” in French, this event has become an institution in France. It was created by the French Ministry of Culture in 1982 and is celebrated on June 21. Since its inception, this immensely popular event has been widely exported. It brings towns and neighborhoods to life in the evening, when musicians from all walks of life take their live performances to the streets.

Naturally, on St. Martin, World Music Day is celebrated mostly in the island’s bars and restaurants. Sometimes, an enormous stage installed on the Marigot seafront invites local artists to reveal their musical talents to the public.
