Europe commits to Saint-Martin

Feder Relaunch of the Communication and Promotion Strategy for the island of Saint-Martin :

Amount of financing – €1,495,073.33

Description :

Following the health crisis caused by COVID 19, and before that by Hurricane Irma, it was necessary to overhaul our promotional tools in order to promote the destination and relaunch the tourism economy on the island of Saint Martin.

This need is even more pressing in order to stay on the radar and occupy space during the current pandemic. Our destination is therefore preparing
for the post-covid era. For the relaunch to be effective, a certain number of elements need to be put in place, namely :

Graphic design, copywriting, printing, delivery of communication documents, map of the island of Saint-Martin, promotional items and kakemonos, creation of a photo library, communication plan, creation of an intermediate website, creation of a new website, canvassing and representation plan for the Saint Martin Tourist Office.

  • To promote tourism and boost economic activity on the island of Saint Martin after the COVID crisis.
  • To improve the environment for businesses operating in the tourism sector, enabling them to benefit from conditions conducive to growth and
    competitiveness.
  • To revitalize the tourism economy, make it more competitive and make the destination more attractive on the French/European market and on the local and French Caribbean market (Guadeloupe and its islands,
    Martinique, French Guiana, etc.).

The COVID 19 crisis has hit the island’s tourism business hard, just after the passage of Hurricane Irma, which had already had a major impact on the sector.

The operation will enable the Saint Martin tourist office to revitalize its communications, in order to better promote the tourist destination, and attract tourists once again following the halt in travel during the COVID 19 pandemic. This promotion is an important part of the strategy to revitalize the island’s tourism economy, and the economic recovery following the COVID 19 crisis.

It is fully in line with the ERDF operational program in that it enables :

  • To revive an important part of Saint Martin’s economy after the sharp slowdown caused by COVID 19.
  • To improve the environment for businesses operating in the tourism sector, enabling them to benefit from conditions conducive to growth and competitiveness.
  • The economic recovery of the island following the crisis caused by the COVID 19 pandemic.

All three actions have the same objective: to promote and relaunch tourism on the island of Saint Martin following the COVID 19 crisis, and to develop its economy.

Intermediate objectives include

  • Relaunching the tourism industry on the island of Saint Martin post COVID
  • Support local businesses by increasing customer flows
  • Improve competitiveness of local businesses
  • Improved attractiveness of the island
  • Increase visitor numbers
  • Consolidation of the destination’s image
  • Increased number of contacts
  • Increased number of visitors to the destination
  • Increased awareness of the destination
