What are Saint Martin’s best beaches?
37 beaches is a lot to choose from. If you need a little more guidance, here is a guide to some of the best beaches on both sides of Saint Martin.
Best beaches on Saint Martin, the French side
Orient Bay : Often called the Saint-Tropez of the Caribbean, this is one of the most famous beaches in Saint Martin. It is also one of the largest on the island and is home to many restaurants and bars. It is also a great place to enjoy Saint Martin’s nightlife on the beach.
Plum Bay : If you are looking for a simpler and quieter place, Plum Bay is waiting for you! It’s a little harder to get there, because it’s remote, but you will enjoy a beach with a few villas as the only buildings around. There are no amenities, which means it’s much calmer than other beaches.
Grand Case Bay : This fishing village is nestled in a beautiful bay. Here, you can have a cocktail, before enjoying the calm waters. Don’t forget to stay here at the end of the day. It is the perfect spot to watch postcard sunsets!
Anse Marcel : This is one of the best beaches in Saint Martin for a good reason! It is located in a charming cove and is surrounded by lush hills. In this heavenly setting, you can enjoy relaxation, water sports or dining.
Best beaches on Sint Maarten, the Dutch side
Simpson Bay : Like Orient Bay, Simpson Bay is one of the longest beaches on the island, and one of the best beaches in Sint Maarten. It is located between the Princess Juliana Airport and the ocean, but is much quieter than the dramatic Maho Beach.
Maho beach : It is not only one of the most famous beaches of Sint Maarten, it’s also one of the most famous places on the whole island. Why is that? It’s because it is located right next to the Princess Juliana Airport. The difference with Simpsons Bay is that in order to land, the planes have to fly over the beach, very close to the ground. It’s an amazing sight to behold and a must-see!
Dawn beach : It’s one of Sint Maarten’s best beaches for a good reason! As the name suggests, it faces the east, which means that in the early morning, you can enjoy a scenic Caribbean sunset, with the island of St. Barthelemy in view. It’s also a quiet place and a great destination for snorkeling in the coral reefs.
Mullet Bay : If Dawn beach is great for sunrises, Mullet Bay, on the west side of Sint Maarten, is one of the best beaches to watch beautiful sunsets. It is bordered by vegetation and has a restaurant where you can rest and enjoy a good meal after swimming. The beach is also a popular spot for surfing!
