A COMMUNICATION OFFICER / GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Position start date: October 1, 2024.
Reporting to the Communication Department, you will participate in defining the communication strategy for the destination and oversee its operational implementation in the short, medium, and long term for the web, publications, press relations, and social media, in alignment with the action plan of the Saint-Martin Tourist Office and the tourism development plan of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin.
Your role will be to support our projects, partners, and tourism organizations, as well as to develop our digital, press, and commercial communication.
Comfortable with both traditional and digital communication techniques, you will successfully carry out tasks aimed at promoting the destination to the press, particularly through social media, digital platforms, our publications, and more generally through all available means, in accordance with the strategy and budgets set by management.
Demonstrating real qualities of adaptability, rigor, and autonomy, the position requires discretion and close collaboration with the Communication Department team, to which you will contribute to its smooth operation.
You will perform your duties under the hierarchical responsibility of the management and the head of the Communication Department.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Implement and Monitor the Annual Media Plan
- Ensure the design and writing of tourism communication tools
- Manage internal and external communication platforms (professional blog, newsletter, WhatsApp distribution list, etc.)
- Conceive and propose actions, materials, visuals, etc., to enhance the visibility of the Saint-Martin Tourist Office
- Contribute to the development of a relevant and appropriate communication strategy
- Disseminate and convey the image and strategy defined by the action plan of the Tourist Office and the tourism development plan of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin
- Monitor the budget and report on the management of the budget allocated to the Communication Department
Internal and External Communication
- Manage projects using agile methods via the Tourist Office’s tools
- Participate in strategy development
- Create internal and external communication tools and materials useful for the various services of the Office (administrative, reception-information, coordination of service providers, production-marketing, digital development, promotion, etc.)
- Produce content
- Manage events for the Tourist Office’s projects
Graphic Communication
- Conceptualize and create various communication tools and materials
- Develop the editorial line, templates, and writing for all materials produced by the Office (brochures, leaflets, posters, flyers, invitations, presentation materials, etc.)
- Propose new visual concepts based on requested themes
- Adjust visuals proposed by agencies if necessary
- Consider the potential to adapt creative ideas across different formats and platforms (press, graphic and interactive animation, etc.)
- Ensure harmony between visuals and content
- Highlight the brand and image of the Tourist Office
- Optimize layouts to enhance public comprehension of the marketing message, particularly for tourists and the local population
- Ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of the visual identity across multiple campaigns
- Brief and coordinate service providers involved in developing the Tourist Office’s graphic and editorial strategy
- Adapt graphic projects to align with communication campaigns of different segments
- Assist in the creation of advertisements, visuals, electronic signatures, stationery, etc.
- Document the feasibility of each project
- Familiarize with the overall brand and image universe of the Tourist Office and participate in developing the graphic charter (colors, materials, formats, messages, etc.)
- Plan each production step according to the scheduled deadlines
- Control the various stages of project realization, from conception to testing, to execution or production
- Analyze the viability and sustainability of a visual identity across different campaigns and over the long term
- Report on the progress of each project and maintain regular communication with the communication manager, management, and team members
- Ensure coherence between the content and form of each material
- Redesign communication materials or other materials developed by the Tourist Office
- Create and manage the Tourist Office’s photo and video library
Digital Communication: Supporting the Digital Evolution of the Tourist Office
- Assist with strategic thinking, implementation of suitable tools, and awareness of digital transformations (social networks, web, ergonomic evolution of the website, content writing, heritage enhancement tools, etc.)
- Support strategic thinking on social media positioning
Multimedia: Content Production
- Conduct photo and/or video reports of events
- Coordinate multimedia service providers
- Provide advice and support in managing an indexed photo library
Press Relations (Print and Web), Audiovisual, Television
- Participate in the development and deployment of the press relations strategy (media plan in accordance with the overall strategy of the Tourist Office, press releases, press kits, etc.)
Qualifications – Skills – Profile
- Bachelor’s degree (Bac +3/4) minimum in Tourism, Marketing, Communication, or Graphic Design
- At least 2 years of significant experience in a similar position
- Strong interpersonal skills, a sense of contact, versatility, and teamwork ability
- Quick adaptation to the work environment
- Proficiency in IT tools and e-tourism, as well as design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
- Creativity and analytical skills
- Mastery of digital communication tools and social web (knowledge of web development software is appreciated)
- Knowledge of the local tourism offerings
- Solid understanding of information technologies and digital tools, as well as skills in implementing communication and digital strategies
- Effective project management skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Comprehensive understanding of marketing techniques and project management
- Demonstrated ability to manage and organize a variety of tasks efficiently, including complex ones
- Excellent communication skills, facilitating the execution of duties and responsibilities
- High level of rigor, well-suited to a dynamic environment
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proactive with a solution-oriented approach
- Fluent in both French and English, essential for effective collaboration within the Tourist Office
- Professional proficiency in Spanish or another language is desired to facilitate interactions in a multicultural and international context
Conditions
- Full-time permanent position (CDI), 35 hours per week.
- Status: Technician/Supervisory Agent.
- Proposed salary: €2,849 gross, negotiable based on profile (experience, degrees, etc.).
- Benefits: meal vouchers, health insurance, provident fund.
- Requirements: valid driver’s license (Permis B).
- Work location: based in Saint-Martin, with frequent travel within the region or internationally.
- Availability: must be available in the evenings, weekends, and public holidays, if required by the role (peak activity periods depending on events and the tourist season).
